Healthy Banana Shake

I'm one of those people who has to have dessert every night, especially during the summer.  It doesn't have to be big, and sometimes just fresh fruit will do the job, but the meal isn't over for me until I've eaten something sweet.  After dinner is usually the only time I eat dessert-type foods, unless I can get away with having them for lunch.  Like I did today with this banana shake :)

Lunches for me are pretty late, because I don't get home from tennis until mid-afternoon.  I try to go for something healthy, fairly light, and with some protein.  Usually that's some salmon, milk, or veggies with hummus, but today I wanted to dress up my milk.  Haha.

This is a fantastic way to use any black bananas in your freezer if you don't feel like making banana bread!

Healthy Banana Shake

1 ripe banana, cut into several large pieces
1 cup milk (I used nonfat)
1 tsp vanilla
10 ice cubes
honey, to taste

Combine the banana and the milk in a blender and blend until smooth.  Add the vanilla and ice cubes and blend until smooth.  Add honey, depending on how sweet you want it and blend again.  Enjoy!

  1. Good luck with the new blog... Plenty of room for everyone. Love the vanilla and honey (needs Rum!)

  2. Thanks! It's a lot of fun. But I can't really make a call on the rum...I'm not 21. Haha.
